Bodø is the county capital of Nordland, located at 67°17’N and is Northern Norway’s second largest citywith around 53,000 inhabitants.

In May 1816, Bodø was given the status of a market town.

Bodø society is characterized by positivity and growth. Although there are those who claim that it is always windy in Bodø, we can however go so far as to admit that there is reasonably good “draught” in the city. And to the extent that it is a little windy, it is in that case a tailwind!

Jekt trade was the lifeblood of trad in Northern Norway for hundreds of years. The large open vessels transported dried fish, cod liver oil, rockfish and herring to the cities further south.

Bodø is the European Capital of Culture 2024. ARCTICulation is Bodø’s theme for the year. Bodø 2024is the largest cultural project in Norway in over 10 years and the largest ever in Northern Norway.

It’s here, north of the Arctic Circle – at 67 degrees north – that more than 1,000 events take place in a whole year.
