In June 2024, a two-step activity for children took place in Bodø: The day they met Querini!
This activity for kindergarten children was organized by the Bodø Motor Historical Association (BMF), in collaboration with our Association.
The first step took place at the beginning of June, when children were brought to the Stormen Library to see the exhibition on Via Querinissima and to be introduced to the story of Querini.
Later, on June 21st, the main activity was staged, when “Querini sailed into Bodø,” arriving in front of the Cathedral to the delight of the children from Asphaugen Kindergarten. The event was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting by Kyrre Kolvik, head of the district council.
Then Querini and Cristoforo Fioravante appeared exhausted, telling the story of their shipwreck and fate.
The children actively took part in reenacting the journey: they represented the lost crew, helped with fishing and bailing water, joined Cristoforo in spotting seagulls and searching for land, and “rowed” together to safety, reaching Røst (represented by the church) and listening to the rest of Querini’s story.
This interactive storytelling combined play, history and imagination, helping children to experience Querini’s adventure in a vivid and memorable way.
The initiative was part of BMF’s broader program, which also included the Norgesløpet 2024 event, dedicated to mobile cultural heritage and its dissemination.
