Commercio e navigazione nel Medioevo

Written by Marco Tangheroni, the book is about the maritime trade from ancient Mediterranean civilisations to the threshold of the great season of travel and exploration of the modern age. We witness the rise and fall of the great empires – from the Byzantine to the Arab, from the Turkish to the Chinese -, we follow the Vikings on the first route to America, the Spanish and Portuguese in the exploration of an Africa slowly emerging from the mists of legend, we observe the Florentine and Genoese merchants trading from England to Tunisia, we travel with Marco Polo through the cities of the East.

A fascinating fresco, drawn with the documentary rigour of the scholar but also with the wisdom of a great storyteller.

In his book, Tangheroni also mentions Pietro Querini among the travellers who helped improve cartography at that time
