Malvasia written by Francesco Molinari.
Molinari emphasises in the book the relevance to the spread of Malvasia in Venice. As we know, the Venetians, during the coup d’état in Constantinople in which Emperor Alexius IV was dethroned, succeeded in obtaining the island of Crete (Candia) for the Venetians following various agreements, and it has always been an excellent source for producing good Malvasia.
Thus began a long history that saw the wine accompany the spices of the ships that arrived in Venice and from there departed for markets all over Europe.
