The Maritime Camino to Santiago – In the Footsteps of Pietro Querini

A new way to experience the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, this time by sea.

The project, promoted by Ria de Muros Noia, offers a unique route that begins along the Rías Baixas Sea Route – Muros Noia Fjord. From there, pilgrims continue on foot to Santiago, retracing the centuries-old journey made by Pietro Querini.

This experience offers a unique perspective on the Camino de Santiago, evoking a medieval atmosphere and reconnecting modern pilgrims with an ancient maritime path to the Apostle's tomb. It is a journey through both history and spirituality, beginning with the sea and continuing step by step on land to Compostela.

The route was inaugurated at the end of June, with 52 boats sailing a journey along the Galician Rías Baixas, symbolically marking the opening of this historic and spiritual path.

This extraordinary adventure closely follows the journey of Pietro Querini, who arrived by sea in Muros before beginning his pilgrimage on foot to Santiago.
